A maintenance notification for a network outage is a communication that informs users about temporary or planned service unavailability. It can be used to inform users about scheduled maintenance, unforeseen incidents, or upgrades.
Purpose:
Keep customers informed about the status of a service or system
Help customers plan their workflows
Help customers mitigate the effect on their work environment
What is the difference between maintenance and outage?
Maintenance might (or might not) cause an outage in service. Outages come in two varieties - planned and unplanned. A planned outage will be announced ahead of time and usually means some sort of maintenance is taking place.
SolEx Internet service customers are all notified of upcoming maintenance with at least 2 to 3 weeks in advance, so they have enough time to plan a work around during the time of the maintenance (if it's service effecting). A 30% of carrier maintenances are not service affecting.
Normally after maintenance are completed, if you noticed that your internet service is not restored you might want to reboot your network elements such as Modem, Router, Switches, Firewall etc.
